No method is best for every situation. However, steam cleaning is recommended by most carpet manufacturers.
We use truck mounted steam extraction. The heat and power from our mobile cleaning plant provide the best possible cleaning job. The dirt that is removed goes into a recovery tank located inside our truck and is disposed of in accordance with local laws. The only equipment that comes into your home are a couple of hoses. All of the contaminants are exhausted outside your home.
Vacuuming is helpful, if possible. Although our cleaning method does vacuum, cleaning is meant to remove oil, grease and spots that regular vacuuming does not address. Also, picking up small items off the carpet and removing them from tables makes for a smoother job.
Your fresh, clean carpets should be dry in just a few short hours. Drying times can be affected by many factors including weather, humidity and airflow. However, it isn't necessary to stay off them while they are drying.
Scotchgard is a product that retards soiling and staining. It acts like a raincoat that covers the carpet fibers to repel dirt and spills, preventing them from embedding in the fibers, thus making it easier to remove them when cleaned. It will wear off after time and should be reapplied periodically. Depending on the amount of activity in the household, this will vary. We recommend having Scotchgard applied at least every other time the carpet is cleaned.
